A Note from a Reluctant Blogger

It's been about seven months since my last blog post... What can I say? Honestly, my heart wasn't in it! It pains me to admit it, but I am not a lover of writing.

I am MUCH more of a doer, and a list maker. Bullet points, check boxes, and strike-throughs are my love language! However, I think it is time that I turn my reluctant attitude around, because lately, I have been trying to think of the best way to reach my potential IES Couples, and to teach them all about what I do, and why it is such an important job. I could certainly make a list here, but instead, I am going to begin a blog series on the Importance of the Planner!

"Event Planner" has been called one of the most stressful jobs out there. And it is true, sometimes being "the man behind the curtain," in charge of pulling all the ropes and levers to ensure your event is perfect, can be a little crazy. But, I love it! Remember me mentioning check boxes as my love language? Well, checklists are the main tool event planners need to do their job (that, and a smile to do the job well)!

While I am lucky to get to do a job I love, most people have no clue what goes on behind the scenes, which is way more than just checking off a few lists. The number one type of feedback I get from clients after a walk-through or a consultation is, "WOW, I had no idea we needed to think about that!" My response is always the same, "Well, that is what we are here for!" Because, of course you haven't thought of your guests needing to switch to plastic from glass after two hours of drinking at your wedding, or that you will need someone to move your gifts and cash-filled envelopes to a secure location before guests start to leave! That is not your job. Hosting a party and running a party are two different things!

At Illumination Events Studio, we want you to think big (and if you are thinking small, we can handle that, too)! We take care of the little things you are likely to forget, and make sure you get to enjoy your event! Why else would our maxim be, "You imagine, we illuminate?" Keep checking in with the Sparkler to see why hiring a planner is the best investment you can make!
